We all know that besides the wonderful climate we have here, Spain is also known for the delicious tapas they serve. And of course you also have plenty of choice for delicious tapas here in Malaga. As we understand it can be difficult to know where to go because there are so many options, we listed our 7 favorite tapas places for you. If this list is missing a spot or you have a tip for us on where to go, feel free to let us know in the comments! We love discovering new favourites ;)!
Casa Lola
In the city you can find several Casa Lola restaurants and for good reason. You can eat delicious tapas here for a good price. They have an extensive menu so there is something for everyone. If you are staying in Malaga for a few days, this is definitely the place to go!
Take note, the restaurants are crowded and there is often a queue to eat here. A tip from us is to go a bit earlier than the Spaniards, so before 20:00. Then you can usually sit down at the table immediately. You can also go there for lunch and then we recommend going before 14:00.
La Tranca
Do you like eating among the locals? Then you must go to La Tranca! This is typical Spanish bar in Malaga where they serve delicious tapas for Spanish prices. The music they play there is authentic Spanish music and the bar staff often sing along joyfully. When you order the bill, you don’t just receive a normal bill like you’re used to. No, they write your bill with a chalk on the bar. In short, a great place to go.
Kraken
Do you want tapas with a twist? Then Kraken is the place to be. They have tasty dishes here and often give them their own twist. The restaurant inside is nicely decorated and they also have a large terrace where you can sit. Whenever our friends or family visit us, we like to take them to this restaurant. Highly recommended!
La Taberna de Pintxo
At Taberna de Pintxo , they have come up with a fun and also catchy concept. Inside the restaurant, they have a display case where you can choose the cold tapas. This includes delicious pintxos. A pintxo is a slice of bread with a topping, which can be anything.
You have pintxos with meat, fish and also vegetarian pintxos. Once you have chosen the cold tapas inside, you can enjoy them on the terrace. Meanwhile, waiters come by with a tray containing the hot tapas. You can then choose whether you want to take the tapa or let it pass you by, and as I said: they have come up with an appealing concept. The tapas all look so delicious that you are very quickly tempted to take them once they are in front of you. In each tapa, they have poked a skewer with each a different symbol. Each skewer has its own price, so you can see on the plate how much each tapa is. A nice concept and something different than choosing from a menu 😉
El Gastronauta
El Gastronauta is a cosy and above all delicious restaurant. The restaurant is modernly decorated and you can also find modern art. The menu is extensive and the dishes on it are all delicious, at least we think so 😉 If you have a free evening, I would definitely go to El Gastronauta!
La Farola de Orellana
La Farola de Orellana is another really typical cosy Spanish bar. It’s a small bar, so often everyone stands around the bar or with a bar stool eating their tapas. The food they serve there is delicious and also typical and mostly authentic Spanish dishes. This tapas bar in the centre of Malaga is also very popular among Spaniards. If you enjoy eating tapas among the locals while listening to Spanish music, Farola de Orellana is the place to go.
El Tapeo de Cervantes
Last but not least, El Tapeo de Cervantes. Tapeo de Cervantes I will definitely add to your list. The restaurant gets crowded so I will definitely recommend making reservations here early. It is cosy and the service is extremely good. The dishes the they serve are delicious, not to mention the wines they have 😉
