Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is the event that you don’t want to miss!
What to expect: A Week of Non-Stop Fun
Imagine a week-long party where the entire city comes alive with traditional Andalusian charm mixed with modern-day festivities. The Feria de Málaga is an annual fair that dates back to the late 15th century, celebrating the Catholic Monarchs’ capture of the city. But don’t let its historical roots fool you—this fiesta is anything but old-fashioned!
The Feria is divided into two main sections: the Day Feria and the Night Feria.
Day Feria: Picture yourself strolling through Málaga’s historic streets, with every corner bursting with flamenco music, vibrant colors, and the intoxicating scent of delicious tapas. The city center becomes a massive open-air party, with locals and tourists alike donning their best traditional outfits. Sip on a refreshing glass of Cartojal as you dance under the Andalusian sun!
Night Feria: As the sun sets, the party moves to the Real de la Feria, a massive fairground located just outside the city center. This is where the magic truly happens! The fairground lights up with thousands of twinkling lights, creating a carnival atmosphere that’s simply irresistible. Expect thrilling rides, live concerts, and a bustling market with stalls offering everything from souvenirs to local delicacies. And let’s not forget the casetas—private tents where the real party never stops. Each one has its own vibe, with music ranging from traditional Sevillanas to the latest reggaeton hits.
Programme
The Feria kicks off at Malagueta beach with a bang on the evening of August 16th with the traditional pregón (opening speech) delivered by the renowned singer-songwriter El Kanka, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. From then on, the party doesn’t stop! The days are filled with colourful parades, live music, dance performances, and plenty of delicious Andalusian food.
